Sitges Carnival: The most fun and emblematic carnival

The Sitges Carnival is possibly the most famous carnival in Catalonia and one of the most famous in Spain. The Sitges Carnival is emblematic, with more than 100 years of history. However, some popular stories date the origin of this festival back to the 15th century. In addition, there is also the famous and traditional Carrera de Camas Disfrazadas. This is a race where groups dressed in costumes by theme push small floats. Inside the float is one of the members of the group.

Sitges Carnival also has a children’s parade so that everyone in the family can enjoy Carnival in style. This parade brings together a multitude of children in costume.

The atmosphere is fully characterised for this festival, and there is even a competition of façades, balconies and windows that rewards the one with the best decoration. Another classic tradition is that of the “xatonadas”, which are small stops in the streets where “Xató”, a Catalan salad accompanied by wine, is offered and shared by all those present.
