The Penedés region, located between Barcelona and Tarragona, has several vineyards a few kilometres from the sea and charming cities such as Sitges. Wine tourism in the Penedés is welcoming more and more visitors! It is one of the most popular wine-growing regions in Spain with the Wine Route and the Brandy de Jerez.
Penedés, located near the sea, enjoys a mild and warm Mediterranean climate all year round. Within the region there is a great diversity of microclimates and a variety of altitudes among its vineyards, some of which can reach 800 meters above sea level.
The flagship of the region is the Xarel-lo variety, with blooming buds and a delicate aromatic profile based on white flowers and Mediterranean aromatic plants. If you want to enjoy this grape variety, look for wines that have been made with lees or in barrels to complete its taste. The secondary aromas of the lees and barrels complete its taste.
To return to wine tourism, you can visit Penedés at any time although spring is the best time for harvesting.

Gramona
This domain produces prestigious wines and sparkling wines. The best thing about this cellar is to stroll through its vineyards and forests – with a glass in hand – and discover its biodynamic philosophy. If you are in a group, you can do yoga between the vineyards overlooking the Montserrat mountain. An unforgettable session guaranteed!
Finca Viladellops
Recently renovated, the particularity of this property is that it is an old village transformed today into a precious enotourism project. It is one of the closest vineyards to the city of Sitges. It is a wonderful combination to visit the property and taste its wines, and finish the day in Sitges and walk along the seaside.
Parés Baltà
It is one of the cellars that is part of the Carretera del Vi. A fantastic project with a historical and cultural value with which you can travel to Penedés in an electric vehicle. The route connects the vineyards of Penedés to the beach by following the old roads of the region, from Sant Martí Sarroca to Sitges, through which the wine was transported and then shipped to the destination markets.
Can Bonastre Wine Resort
The property is located in the northern part of Penedés, with an exceptional view of Montserrat. This cellar also produces AT Roca’s ecological cavas, so that in a single visit, you can enjoy two tastings. And the best of the property: excellent gastronomy and a spa with a breathtaking view of Montserrat. This cellar has also a very romantic hotel and a restaurant.
Llopart
A classic of the Penedés, which produces some of the best sparkling wines in the region. Their wines are also under the new Corpinnat label. A historical estate with written references from the 14th century, a strong family tradition and very well cared for vineyards make this experience a very special one. A tasting in the vineyards or a glass of Ex Vite in the cellar of the family farm are unique moments not to be forgotten.
Although the visit to these vineyards is fantastic and you can enjoy an excellent enotourism experience, do not forget: the best thing is to stay several days in the region and discover the restaurants and activities you can do between the vineyards. Visiting vineyards may not be for everyone, but enjoying the outdoors with good wines and food!
